Exatech announced last month the use of its Active Intelligence GPS guided platform in 100,000 joint replacements. Launched in 2021, the system includes preoperative planning, prediction tools, and other technology to assist surgeons in knee and surgeon arthroplasty.
What’s new?
The new development here is the FDA’s approval for GPS guidance in the Exatech Vantage total ankle. The goals include improving instrumentation accuracy and assessing accuracy of the cuts while reducing x-ray radiation. There are no clinical studies yet. Two sawbone-based studies focusing on the accuracy of cuts using sawbones will be presented at a meeting of the Orthopedic Research Society.
