A growing number of people taking GLP-1 medications, such as Ozempic and Wegovy, are experiencing burning or tingling sensations in their feet, a condition that has been dubbed “Ozempic feet.”

Why it matters

GLP-1 drugs have surged in popularity for their weight-loss benefits, but as more people use them, unexpected side effects are surfacing. Ozempic feet may be linked to rapid weight loss or nutritional deficiencies like vitamin B12, potentially leading to nerve damage.

Bottom line

Remember to screen for GLP use in your patients with idiopathic neuropathy symptoms. No word yet on whether the symptoms resolve on discontinuation of the GLP.
