Power of Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) Systems
by Sammy Short
Many companies focused on foot and ankle have their versions of a MIS bunion system offering jigs, screws, instruments, and even burrs. However, very few of these companies offer the power console and burr systems to accompany their MIS offeringds. The challenges with offering power consoles are the capital costs, “wear and tear” from shipping, and an extra layer of complexity to the sales cycle for their sales representatives.
"What’s at the facility" becomes the standard
Sales representatives are often reliant on “what’s at the facility” for their MIS cases, which opens the door for competitive representatives to find their way in the room. Physicians may elect to work with companies who can offer a comprehensive package to limit traffic in their operating rooms. Moreover, there are instances where a facility may not be properly equipped with these consoles at all.
Takeaway
Having a “soup-to-nuts” offering for MIS procedures will undoubtedly lead to increased workflow efficiency intraoperatively. Paragon 28 is poised to make a splash in the MIS market with the launch of the FJ2000 power console and burr system alongside its PRECISION® MIS Bunion System.
