Private equity is making inroads into physician practices. In 2019, its highest penetration was in dermatology at 7.5% and 1.9% (460 of 23,891) in orthopedics. Foot and ankle medical practices have been identified as being part of a healthcare sector that is fragmented and can benefit from capital and logistic support.
